Greetings fellow vantastic repairers Question is...... How do you work Meaning In what way do you work on your vans when repairing The reason for my question is the "Other Half"... "Er indoors" ... "She Who must be obeyed" Feels my method of work is too ad hoc.. lacking focus So here is how I go about working on a restoration project... Please give your methods so I can improve or be proved my way is OK In general terms I decide what is most urgent and do that first... As the work progresses some jobs can't be completed until further along or parts/bits are bought soooo I just move along to the next job and the next ad infinitum until the previous work can be done... coming back and forth until all is done... To me this is the best as there is always progress and the labour intensive jobs get done while waiting for cash to buy what is needed for the other jobs... Make sense? ? How do you work? ?? Atog

Atog, it's time to throw that hammer in disgust on the ground NOW!! (watch your toes ) and storm inside ranting and raving about how EVERYBODY does their restoration exactly the same as you do! A restoration is like any project management...things happen in a 'logical' sequence, rather than by "running around like a chook with its head cut off", or just focussing on one thing at a time until it is completely finished. If you only focussed on one thing at a time, it would be a very...long...slow process. Today I fitted one section of panelling into the Millard. While I'm waiting for the glue to dry, am I sitting on my BUTT??!! NO, I'm out there sanding back and putting estapol on the water damaged tops of the cupboards. Or I'm in there preparing the next bit of framework for the next sheet of panelling! I'm with you mate. Anyway, even if you DID lack focus...aren't you living in North Qld, where LIFE is laidback and it's too sunny to focus anyway?? Maybe 'she-who-must-be-obeyed' is getting confused with those other Olympics where people run fast, jump high, and exert a lot of energy in a short space of time. A totally different Olympic mindset is needed for what you are doing... ;D ;D cheers, Al.

Thanks for the reply Millard 1399 While Nth Qld is supposed to be all laid back and easy..... some of us lesser intelligent types do up old caravans Having been in management and run my own businesses in the past (sounds big but was really nickel and diming) This is how business seems to run.... At the end of a day you don't see any real progress immediately but eventually the job is finished.... as well as all the little things that don't matter much but are needed... It seems that there is no progress and all of a sudden it's nearly finished... So the little woman will have to be patient a little longer This month is the anniversary of picking up the Olympic Cheers Atog
