Well I didn’t get out in the shed on the weekend. Instead I went away with a bunch of people to Benalla. Had a great time. Some of the left overs of our rally. Absolutely beautiful during the day... really cold at night.. Thought we would wonder out to the airport and have a little prowl around see what we could find. Don't think the museum has been there all that long. Couldn't convince swmbo to go in and have a look see.. Last time we were there we discovered a collection of collectable caravans in use by, who we think are members of the Glider Club. This time we had a camera and swmbo was ok to snap a couple.. sorry about the reflection, she is out of practice. but you get the idea Then we drove down the road a little way to find a car or two.. A convertable ea falcon sedan!! It looked straight, perhaps it had a chassis underit. Then a seriously modified falcon wagon, xw/xy I think. I have no idea what the rusty ute was. A wreckers yard is a strange place to park an aero plane. It’s been there for a number of years. After all this I still could not find something older then me..

Donna thanks for the comments. We are out and about again, this time Shepparton Victoria. Brand new... well to me this car museum ’The Shepparton Motor Museum’ . open 7 months and is a must see. A diverse selection of cars.. Not all museums have one of these If your dear beloved is not one to want to spend time wandering around motor cars, not to far away is the The Windmill Chocolate Shop & Café, should keep her happy.. And sure enough here we are walking down one end of the car park, the car parked the other end, down comes the rain.

Hey Shane It is amazing the various types of accommodation that is available particularly for groups. I will have to store this one away for the next time we are looking for somewhere for the car club. Unfortunately it does not suit the mob I am associated with this weekend. They want grass, power and a concrete slab. Took a little stroll around Victoria Lake, it is looking rather splendid, it was not that long ago it was dry. Spotted a nice looking ute parked on the side of the road. Every time we drive past this lake we spot some collection of classic or special interest cars parked. This weekend was no different, this time it was a gathering of Morris 1000’s, SWMBO stated she was on holiday and not doing camera duties. Took a drive to Tatura to explore the town’s Museum. It featured information on the local Prisoner of War camps, irrigation and the town’s history. I didn't realize we had so many camps in Victoria. We detoured and took a look see at the Tatura Germany Military Cemetery. It contains the bodies of 250 Germans, 239 civilian internees and 11 prisoners of war. It must have been a tough time for those that were interned. Just in case that Kiwifella forgets what water looks like. Here is a photo of the Goulbourn River a little on the full side of things.. Note the grass around the trees.

We are out and about again, this time Shepparton Victoria. Brand new... well to me this car museum ’The Shepparton Motor Museum’ . open 7 months and is a must see. Good photos Bob, I must go along and have a look. I live about 400m behind the museum and still haven't been for a look, even did some work there during construction, but haven't ventured inside since it was stocked. Born and raised in Tatura and now live within 20mins, but still haven't been to that museum either (Haven't had much spare time in the last 42 years ;D) The prison camps are all private property now, but many of the buildings still stand, if you know where to look. My grandfather was a guard there in WW2 and somewhere is a collection of photos taken at the height of the internments, must find them someday. Planner

gidday planner How often is that the way, live round the corner of a star attraction and you never venture out to look. you are not alone I have an ol work college that lives in Tatura, last I heard he was restoring a minerva. Every time we head that way I forget to give him a yell before we head off.. and of course when we are near by I don't have his contact details. I heard that the camps were on private property and in October the museum arranges a bus tour. I will have to see if we can make it there for a tour some time in the future. Saw a couple of classic and one 'vintage' caravan in tat.. bobt

Still rained for part of it though, but that was a bit of relief from the heat - and thats coming from a Queenslander Hi Doug like you i also attended the Loxton Nats in a early, our air conditioning was a six pack esky full of ice fitted under the cowl vent. Worked well for a short time anyway, all in all it was a great event cheers oggyfj Attachments:

Well another weekend has past by this time we went to Laanecoorie Lakeside Park just outa Laanecoorie. A most popular spot for some because of its lake, which happens to have water in it. Found this at the Entrance to the Laanecoorie Lakeside Park. Amazing what ya can do with a bit of corrugated tin - Often people ask. Where have all the Classic caravans gone. Well I reckon I found another collection of them They were ever where. Just a little difficult to get a photo to clearly show And a Greythorn. At least it is undercover and being used like it should be. Some of the group I was with having a chat and a morning cuppa in the sun.. River over the Loddon River. Single lane and load limited to 12t. After the dinner I consumed the previous evening I had to check the scales to see if I could drive over it Spotted on the other side parked in the middle of the town Next to the river on a rather nice looking bit of grass. I suspect the caravan has been camped there for awhile.. Half his luck. now back to the grind bobt

Found photobucket really challenging this time round. Maybe I have lost my touch. I apologise for the large photos.. Photobucket would not let me back in to edit them.. Well another weekend has come and gone, this one was a little special, not only was it Melbourne cup weekend but we were away with our caravan club to celebrate the clubs 75th birthday. I have gathered together a couple piccies to share. It has proven difficult for the club to find a caravan park in Victoria that can accommodate all of us so we used the Elmore Field Day facility. It covers a very large area. Spotted this nice little shed .. Peering thru my windscreen after a drive to Elmore and beyond, you can see some of the caravans attending our event. The rear end of a collection of white boxes ;D Lots of brand names that are 5 minute wonders. Out of all the caravans that attended over the weekend the 2 of the newest vans were built by Roma, there were 2 Millards and one Traveller. The rest were brand names that did not exist 15 – 20 years ago.. Like all good celebrations we had a little party where we ate.. drank.. and danced all night.. (well some danced) The entertainer was good Just a little bit of a que for desert. The white Lunch Box is sitting on ‘an old Franklin’ caravan chassis Just a little bit of a peak at some of the, maybe more interesting things in the park on the weekend. Reputedly the last Hallmark caravan built. Well we discussed it a lot on Sunday while sitting in the shade under a tree 8-)sipping an ale or 2 or .. It was built for Arthur Pullen, in 1999. We even have hot rodders as members of the caravan club.. They are making a trip out of it, their next stop is Bright to join the hot rod gathering next weekend. The only thing I did wrong..................... I came home a day too soon.
