Greetings Everyone. Was thinking about how life changes as we go through different stages and ages. We pick up interests and lose others. Some years ago I use to write articles for a small circulation magazine called "Metal Stone and Glass". Would put hours of time into setting up photos and making things so the instructions on "how to" were as clear as possible. Then after about six years and countless articles ...... Notice my heart was no longer in writing. So decided it was time for a change. I stopped writing and have rarely looked at one of the magazines since. Then as many will know I started to restore an Olympic caravan. Boy, did that take up some time.... about two and a half years of weekends nights and holidays. Was really interesting. Lots to learn and do. Learned how to glaze, fibreglass, cabinetmaking, 12volt electrics and spray painting. All good information. Shared that on this forum and Vintage Caravans. Then about two years ago I took up another hobby involving brewing. That is also coming to an end. Need for change has hit again. Seems that we all need to take up new challenges in life to keep our minds moving. Make things fresh as it were. Around about the same time as I took up brewing (actually for the second time) I stopped being real active here on this forum. Many of the newcomers here will realise that I haven't been around much. Couple of weeks ago my computer spat the dummy and fried the motherboard. All my information was gone..... My reaction was interesting, even to me. It didn't bother me.. For two weeks I couldn't get onto any of the forums that I have been on for some years It didn't worry me.. So I think it may be time for another change...... Well for the past twelve months, maybe two years I've taken a back seat. Handed most of the responsibilities over to Millard1399 Al has done a magnificent job. My input has been minimal to none since then. Might be time to hand the baton on to someone else with more enthusiasm than I have now. Will continue to help as I can but not really going to be around as much. All the best to you all William aka Atouchofglass aka Atog

Howdy Atog, Time for a change "Ah"??, We're just wondering if you are going to do something about, setting up the Classic Caravan Park down in Tassie that we talked about a couple of years back.!!! If so, count us in on the act as well, It sounds like the Humidity has got to your computer again, just like the ever-lasting heat has got to us here in the West. "TIME FOR A CHANGE" Mate, being a Member of C.M.C.A we can get 40% off the Tassie Ferry, What the heck are we waiting for !!! Kiwijim ;D

I must admit Atog, we do seem to have taken it well that you've lost everything off your computer, I would be devastated and i have a back up of mine You must be very comfortable in life to be able to recognise, accept and engage the necessity for change. Generally as rule, we don'[t like change, it takes us out of our comfort zone. Which is sad because it stunts our emotional and intellectual growth. Enjoy your new endeavours Atog :D3 Cheers Donna

I do understand the need for a change.... although my interests have lasted five to ten years at a stretch. And there are some things I may not do now because of health reasons, I will never quite lose the interest in them. Good luck in any new endeavour, I am considering back to school.... ?? never too late. Cheers, Heather

Hey Everyone Thanks for the thoughts. Jim Actually I am not really thinking of any particular thing to do next Which is a bit of a worry. I am tired. The mind is stale currently and feel the need for change as well as rest from any and everything I have been doing in recent years. Have been doing the same job now for two years and had a total of two weeks and a bit off. That hasn't helped. So will take the week after Easter off as well as Easter and see what comes of a bit of traveling around. Probably spend most of it up the Atherton Tablelands. Longer term plans are yet to be finalised. Am thinking of moving from Cairns to SE Qld But will do a bit of touring next year first. Hey Donna I thought I'd be really upset about losing all the info... Just another indicator that I need change. Thanks too Andy for your thoughts. And Heather I actually like change as it challenges you to look harder at things instead of just cruising through life .... Wasting day after day in this or that job. Routine is needed to get things done but change is needed to make things fresh. I need fresh.... Just not sure what ....... yet. ;D Cheers Atog

Awwww ATOG we don't want you to disappear, maybe you just need a good holiday and then you'll come back all refreshed. Well we can hope anyway.
We've been enjoying a few days most weeks in our van recently, Autumn is so nice in Victoria and before long our 5 months will be over and the van will be off to storage and our little breaks away from boring old Melbourne will be a distant memory.
Thanks for all your help and cheerful advice ATOG and I hope this is a "see ya" and not goodbye.
Subbie

As a one time subscriber of the mag mentioned Could you enlighten me as to the type of articles you wrote? Strange that this would come up just as I finished work on modifying my faceting machine to make it more portable and dual power (12v & 240v) All the best for the future and please don't forget us in here Pete

Hey Subbie Thanks for the advice. I don't intend disappearing all together just not be active.... Perhaps a casual user and if they leave me as a Moderator I will continue to help as I can. Very tired in general not of the forum.
Pete I use to write most of the jewellery making articles from 2001 - 2006? or there abouts.
Cheers Atog

all the best william/ATOG! it seems the body tells us when to rest when we are tired and also tells us after a while (a good while) of resting that there is still some life left to be lived!!!! but we need to be that tired in the first place for this to happen. so rest up, enjoy, think, relax & we will see you on here from time to time............and await your next project!!! LOL ;D TFL

Thanks one and all for your kind thoughts. I am just in need of a long.... well some kind of break. As you will all note I am no longer tagged as a moderator. MarkT has given me the opportunity to take a breather. Much appreciated. Perhaps it is time for some of you blokes to step up and help Al ...... How about it boys? Put your hand up and help Al continue with the running of CC. As the title of this thread says it's time to make a few changes. Not sure what the future holds for me. Just want to clear the decks and see what comes of it. Will be taking a week off work after Easter and spending a bit of time on the Atherton Tablelands, just the wife and I. Need to use the van again.... Can you believe it's last trip was in August last year. Let's put a few days travel in and post a few photos of our journey. Cheers Atog

G'day atog, I'd like to join the others and wish you and your family all the very best in the future. You've contributed a tremendous amount of knowledge and inspiration to the forum during the years you've been a member - first as an ordinary member, and then as a Moderator. None of us would have appreciated the joys of fibreglassing without your step-by-step training guides. And none of us would have appreciated rosewood timber without hearing about it from you. (And none of us would have experienced the great "2010 Rosewood Famine" without knowing how much was used in your van! ) It would be great to have you drop in from time to time and say "Hi!", and let us know how you are getting along. Old friends stay friends forever, so don't be a stranger to us all, ok? Best Wishes, cheers, Al.
