Howdy All, I thought I would start this tread as most people have a collection of something around the house. In my case, my hobby is collecting Models of old cars, After many years, the collection has now grown into the hundreds. I am mainly interested in Miniature models ( Match Box size ) But over the years I have collected many more, some being rare early Franklyn Mint productions. Some others are quite large, for example shown below are a couple of polished wooden cars which can be judged by the size of the Cigarette pack beside one of them...... One other car I recently obtained is a Cast Iron 1 : 24 model of a 1958 Cadillac Deville, this Jack Daniel's car is a good scale model with every-thing opening and shutting......... If anyone else is into collecting early model cars, Please post some pic's here, Or for that matter, lets see what you collect, it doesn't matter what it is, it will be interesting. ;D ;D ;D kiwijim

Hey kiwijim
Like the cars, I collected a couple over the years, not many just ones that impress me or I have a fancy for.
I collect other trinkets too, try to keep em to a minimum. Just don't have the room for everything.
Some of the characters on the VV forum with their model making impresses me. Would love to attempt something similar one day.
I guess by the lack of responses to this post we don't have many collectors in the classic scene.
I will share the car collection when I get back home.

Been off line for a bit, looks like I got back just in time. I too collect a few cars here and there, only thingsI like. Have a fair few Dick Johnson models, in fact, Dick's Zupps XU1 Torana is on eof the very few Hioldens I would ever allow in my home or yard. Most of my models are 1:64 scale (Matchbox size) but a few different sizes have crept in. One of my prized ones is a Hotwheels model still in package of the Batmobile from the 1960's TV series. I also have 2 Hotwheels of the DeLorean car from Back to the Future, one standard road version, one from the movies. Will attempt to get some photo's on in the next few days for everyone. Never bothered taking any before as I never thought anyone woud be interested. The bulk of my collection is Fords, Fords, and more Fords,

Howdy donnymaree, Yep, proud of the collection alright and that's only a few of them. Apart from the "Dear One" eating a massive heap of Ferrero Rocher's, so I could have the plastic cases, She has also found the time to collect miniature ceramic houses, there is something like 140 in her collection.......... Needless to say, there's not much room left in the spare room Cheers kiwijim

Howdy Buddo 271, That's a great collection of well known Fords you have there, I was only watching a replay on TV the other day ( Foxtel ) of the Fords 1st & 2nd finish at Bathurst, I think it was 1977, "Man" that was a great race. ;D ;D ;D "Say" Greedy53, that old Astor radio sure brings back memories, it's just like the one my parents had in their kitchen, way back in the 60's. Does it still make a noise ? Thanks for showing your collections Guys, I bet there is a stack of more "Goodies" out there, now "Come on Ladies" don't be shy, let's see what you have been secreting away, Anyone got a collection of rare AVON bottles hidden away ? That's another collection the "Dear One has a stack of, "Come on" Show me yours,.... and I'll show you mine, ;D kiwijim ;D

Nice collections there one and all, but Buddo271, just slip them blue oval tinted glasses off for a wee second ......
1984 Bathurst ..... P.Brock / L. Perkins first (HDT Commodore); J. Harvey / D. Parsons second (HDT Commodore)
2010 Bathurst ..... G. Lowndes / M. Skaife first (Vodafone Commodore); J. Whincup / S. Owen second (Vodafone Commodore)
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I'll just slip my red lion shaped glasses off for a second and say that group C was the best racing era of all IMHO; big variety of makes, and real production based cars. Anyway, better get them specs back on!
Oh, and I bet Bondy still kicks himself for slowing down for Moffat!
Cheers Doug.

I was waiting for someone from th Red Lion brigade to pop up cruisindoug, yes, there have been other teams that have finished first and second, however, 1977 was the only year that the cars numbered 1 and 2 finished in position 1 and 2. Lucky team tactics were alive and well back then as Moffatt had no brakes left and Bondy should have won by a country mile but didn't as he was following team instructions. I gotta admit to loving proper touring car racing rather than the current crop of V8 Taxicab's that run around. They've spent so much time and effort on parity that the only way to get a place is by having the best pit crew, wait for another diver to make a mistake or take big suicide gambles and hope everyone else gets out of your way.
