Well, I can't beat a $10 laptop, but I can brag about my latest ebay "win"... ;D A leading charity organisation has their local head office about a kilometre from me. Someone in the office has set up an ebay store to auction off the more "collectable" items that get donated to them. I managed to win a Fuji S3000 digital camera for $16.50 It was listed as a 4x zoom, but I checked the internet reviews and it's a 6x zoom. It's a 2003 model, but somebody must have bought it and used it a couple of times then stashed it away in a cupboard. It came with the original box, the books, the cable, the disc, and a larger 128mb card in it. Works perfectly, and I've been looking to get one of these zoom cameras for seeking out old caravans behind sheds etc. I'm a very happy chappy for the price I paid... This is our backyard at the low zoom setting on the camera (Note to self: must mow lawn when rain goes away )... And this is the circled part of the tree with the camera set at 6x zoom... Cheapest camera I've ever bought! cheers, Al.

G'day kiwijim, The camera is nine years old, so its from the early days of digital cameras when they only had a maximum resolution of 3.2 megapixels. Nowadays, it seems you're not keeping up with the Joneses if you don't have something up around 12 megapixels. Funnily enough, a good size photo for this forum only requires about half a megapixel, so I'm not sure why people need cameras that will take up to 12mps. Back in 2003, I bought the baby brother Fuji camera to this one I 'won', and it's been going great guns ever since. Every photo I've posted in my Millard poptop thread was taken with the baby brother one. It's still going strong, but only has a 3x zoom on it, which isn't good enough to spy on caravans hidden at the back of houses, etc. My new Fuji zoomer not only takes photos of trees in my backyard, but can also do close-ups of a 4" angle grinder blade... ...and if that ain't enough detail for ya, I can move in even closer and show the detail of the printing... The camera takes four AA batteries to run it. Just to "rub salt into the wound" in terms of bargain hunting, a couple of months ago I was in Bunnings and they had a clearance sale of one brand of batteries. Got meself a pack of four rechargeable AA batteries for $4, previously $16. ;D ;D cheers, Al.

Up bright and early last Sunday Morning, Hunting through the Market stalls by 6.30 am, Found these Transceivers, being sold by a Bloke who thought they were Kids Toys......... Got them home and shoved a couple of AAA batteries in them, They both fired up, that's when I discovered, they were 19 channel U.H.F. C. B. radios, The reception is as clear as a bell both ways and the range is fantastic, two other channels were operating as I tested them and reception was Crystal clear. Just what I wanted for the SWMBO for the next time she goes wandering while on our travels. "OH" the price, errrrrrrr $ 4.00 the Pr. The kiwi strikes again... ;D ;D ;D
