Hi all, Last month I traded our beloved 1997 Land Rover Discovery SE7 V8i on a newer model. It was a great tow car, but being a Series one model, the ball weight max was only 150 kg!! That was fine whislt we had the 15 x 7 foot pop top, but no good when we bought the new Sunland patriot! So, I looked around and bought this vehicle. A 2003 Discovery TD5. What a difference, i would never had believed that a 2.5 litre 5 cylinder diesel could have the power to pull a 2.4 tonne caravan, and do it so well. We have just completed a 3,800km trip through NSW and western QLD, with that Disco averaging 15 litres per 100 km of diesel! Most of the time we sat on a true 90kph and the little diesel purred like a charm. I must say it is a vast improvement on the V8, which did 25 ltr per 100km pulling the same caravan at the same speed! I fitted a snorkel on it before we left. i712.photobucket.com/albums/ww121/ACCMoretonBayDrifters/2011 Bingara Muster and tag-a-long/2_Woody_Point_17.jpg[/img] Cheers, Ron

Hey Ron
The petrol ones were built to make the oil companies rich.
A number of my friends that had petrol versions change to diesel real quick... and haven't looked back
