Hi Doug Sorry we haven't got any close up photos but basically the sheets are riveted to the frame with a 3mm gap between them, which is then filled with sikaflex, then the joints are covered with a 60mm strip inside and outside, and then sikaflexed again around the edges. Hope this makes sense and helps a bit.

Hey Jean and Alex You know I forgot how lovely an older van can look. We only see them as they are now... with crazed windows faded paint and dated interiors.
But with a lot of love and care they come up beautifully. The windows in your van shows just how fast a nice old van can come back to life. Keep the resto going and we will see a real swan as she regresses back to her original beauty.
Cheers Atog

You just tell..... Al what sort of a hope he has of getting your Fantastic Viscount, Out of the West,
I would say "BUCKLES"
I've said it before and I'll say it again....... Alex, you are in the wrong game, you are a Legend as your work on the Viscount proves,
You should have been in the trade years ago, keep it up and you can lead the procession of Classics on the next tour of the West, when-ever that will be. ;D ;D ;D
thanks guy, your comments are very much appreciated. Alex is a Virgo (perfectionist) and it really shows on the work he is doing on our Viscount. We both just wish he had more time to spend working on it. You never know Al, you might just see it on your driveway one day, we never know where we will end up once we start travelling! And Kiwijim, from someone who was in the trade, thanks for your praise, means a lot.
Thanks Al and Cameron, it is quite a difference eh, and very satisfying.
Well this weekend we spent a lot of time trying to find hinges for the door.....no luck, we tried everywhere we could think of..so looks like Alex has something else to make, wish him luck!
All the windows are now fitted and looking amazing! Had a bit of rain lately which has shown up a few leaks, which we spent the weekend sealing, hoping to get them all so we can think of putting the flooring in.
Rain again tonight, so we ran out to the Viscount to discover we missed 3 spots.....but thats ok, they should be easy to sort.
Alex got the door all sprayed up and managed to make up three good hinges from the five dodgy ones, which he has put on the main door frame. He thinks we should be able to get away with normal hinges (slightly adapted) for the secondary door. Don't know what you call that door. Anyway, the plan is to get the door fitted next weekend, so I will post some more photos then.
well at last I have got around to posting photos of the new door, we still have to put the fly screen mesh in but it is on the Viscount! We have put opaque perspex in the window which we are not sure about yet but will see how we feel later, we can always change it.

the different colours are where Alex has filled holes, also some are where there was silicone which when removed ended up down to bare aluminium so had to be covered for protection till we are ready for a complete respray The original colour was the dark blue.
I know this is six months afterwards but I've just been looking through your work. Excellent job! Love the initiative and thorough job that you guys have input. What did you use to paint the windows (paint type)? Would love to do the same to ours - it totally changes the feel when even the frames are given new life.
Glad I can see your years work in a few minutes, look forward to seeing the next installments. Cheers
