G'day peterg, and welcome to the forum! ;D I've done some rearranging to your thread, and brought another post you put elsewhere, into this thread. Yes, your van is a Chesney from the 1969-70 period, and is the Chesney Regal model. The paintwork on the side is not original, and would have looked like this when the van was new... Looks like there's been a fair bit of work done on the van. Some changes to the windows, and lots done inside. Nice job! ;D ;D cheers, Al.

Hey there my fellow fibreglass ender! Is that a real title? Who knows, who cares? I guess there are still a few FG ended vans running around. What I like about them is that they can be easily repaired and they have a definite bit o stylin' to a van ay? But what I dont like is that they can be easily damaged. I guess we are no better/worse of than others. ;D ;D ;D I like the way your van is coming along, it's such an exciting adventure to restore or renew them. I hope I can get my 'ends' as shiny as yours! Thanks for sharing it with us. Cheers

hi really enjoyed reading threads on other peoples vans and experiences i always knew i was a bit crazy, doing a total refurbish of a 42 year old van just sort of confirms it. thought others may like to see how far we have come in the 4 months we have been together. as this is my 1st ever effort pls dont judge us too harshly i do believe we are both improving as we go regards peterg

Hi Peterg
Fantastic van you have there - a mobile supporters lounge? You've certainly put in a champion effort to get so much done in such a short time!
Are you starting with an empty shell and going your own way, or are you trying to put the floorplan back as it might have been?
Top work! Seeshell

Yer what? Judge too harshly? I dont think so, it looks fantastic! I like the idea of spraying the plan onto the floor before you start, thats a good idea. Keep it comin! Cheers

G'day Peter, I've collected all the information about your van and put it all together in this thread. That way we can follow the story of your van from start to finish in the one thread. Just keep adding more posts here as you work your way through the restoration, ok? You've certainly taken on a major job with your van! Obviously you're someone who is not afraid to tackle a job such as this. Congratulations on getting in and having a go! Looks like the van will be totally different to what it looked originally. Here's a couple of photos I posted on the forum a few months ago. This Chesney is from the later-1970s and had been professionally renovated. It was listed on ebay with a starting bid required of $28,000 (but didn't get it). You too can end up with something like this... Keep plugging away on your van. You're doing a real nice job so far. ;D ;D cheers, Al.

thanks to all who have showed an interest it really makes it worthwhile to know that there is support just a short message away. to seeshell the van only had benches -lino and ply laminate in it when purchased so gutting it was easy. as for floorplan we are doing it to our style as we are going to be living in van traveling oz ,life is to short and we want to do this while we are young enough to appreciate the nomadic lifestyle.to nasa62 the plan was to have a plan but the warden likes to change this every so often so it is different to original idea ,but being our 1st attempt there is a lot flexability ;D ;D ;D to millard1339 thank you for setting my thread up correctly and as for that chesney i can only dream ours will be half as superb an example regards peterg

Wow!! No mucking about with you, is there?!! That's a fantastic job you've done so far. And yep, those window 'hinges' you've fitted are a real neat idea. I'll bet you're happy with how it's going. It sure looks good from where I sit!! ;D ;D cheers, Al.

Hey peterg, coming along nicely ay? Out of interest, how are you planning to attach flyscreens on your windows? Mine has the same setup and I haven't made a call on that yet. Having said that (well typed it anyway ;D ;D) I came acroos a mob that do what they call softscreens. www.softscreens.com.au/gallery.aspDont know if anyone has tried them but they look they may be suitable for me. See what you think if you don't already have a plan. Cheers

G'day Peter,
Coming along nicely! Wish I'd been able to advise about the double bed location before you built it in position. I would have recommended you bring it six inches away from the wall rather than butt it up against the wall. It's a real pain to put sheets and blankets on these beds when they are up tight against one corner. It can also get a bit cold up against the inside wall if you don't have a good bit of insulation in the wall cavity.
Still, they are only 'minor matters' that mightn't bug you anyway.
Your photos back in Reply #10 are not showing anymore. Looks like you might have rearranged your Photobucket albums and the original links now no longer work. You'll have to go back to Reply #10 and click "modify" in the top right hand corner of that reply, and copy and paste the new links into that post. Otherwise we'll be staring at little white boxes saying the 'photos have gone missing'.
cheers, Al
