The nylon coating is still hardening, in the meantime I have returned to the interior. For the first time I have digressed from the plan & will be fitting removable floor boards. It would be simple to screw the boards to the frames but then you can't clean or remove spilled items from around the keel. This process will include eight profiles (?) resting on the stringers & possibly steam bending of the boards?

Well the floor boards screwed down to the profiles easy enough but when the clamps were released there was action every where. Once the screws were released, the gap shows how far the board had to bend. So now its onto steam bending, to take the spring out of the planks. ( I wonder what awaits?) I already have some of the supplies at home, a drum for a boiler, gas ring & tank, 100mm pipe, now fitted with a wood rack. Now, not to blow myself up !!!!

The steamer is up & running, that is the good news, but kiln dry timber very much resists bending, back to the drawing board. I have now changed the floor design to be flatter, but somewhat higher than I wanted due to centre of gravity.

Here are the floor boards after steaming in one section. They have now been split into two for ease of handling. Fitting is pleasing they have kept the shape intended, but are they thirsty, oh boy , three coats of varnish has been slurped up like a teenage party with free grog.

After 7 x coats of clear we finally have a shine, the boards are sitting pretty good, with the addition of a wooden "Lynch type Pin" to the frame they will not move at all. (hopefully) All exposed screws will be slothead brass or silicon bronze, this will be my idea of disguising the age of manufacture.
