There's plenty of generic van wiring schematics around the net, however does anyone have a good commercial vans detailed wiring diagram they would like to share with me? Sometime back I fixed a factory wiring fault in a mates new Windsor, which entailed me making a scribbled rough diagram; to work out how it all came together. I am endeavouring to produce a detailed 'How To rewire your 70's van for the 21st Century' ... or something like that and will model it on a simple commercial offering.

Hi wahroonga, what are you after, low voltage or high voltage diagrams or both.? I have a copy of Jayco (USA) wiring diagram, very simple one but probably all that is needed for average van. I designed my own circuits but they are rather complex as I have a lot of different gear to normal + solar and power available from car. can help out with extra info if you like.

I'm after a diagram of both. Most vans now have an integrated 12v/240v system with inverters and inverter/charges incorporated. This is a schematic from Rays Caravans. home.iprimus.com.au/rfh/battchargers3.htmlI was after the next level. There's a number of safety and design issues to be dealt with, as well as the selection of industry tested components etc.

Thanks Frank This appears to a diagram of a 240/12v power pack plus optional battery and solar system. Pretty decent unit 35A @ 12v = 420watt Any further details or diagrams? Particularly the details of the various units. e.g. 240/12v charger, battery, solar regulator etc.

The power supply used by Jayco is I think a SEATEC unit, ( not to be confused with the excellent CTEK multi stage chargers.) it is basically a transformer. not good for charging batteries unless fitted with a regulator. I have a Ctek Multi XS 25000 (25 amp 8 stage switch mode charger) powering my van and wired directly to the 100AH deep cycle battery as well as a Morningstar SS20 controlling the 110Watt solar panel input. Only have 240 volt for 2 power outlets and the Ctek. everything else is 12 volt. 14 fuses and 3 circuit breakers provide protection to the 12 low voltage circuits in the van. I have designed my own circuits but cannot put them up as yet as they are still in the form of rough sketches that only I can decipher. Lighting is mainly LED and 2 low voltage fluorescent globes. refrigeration is by way of a portable chest fridge (compressor type) that uses a mere 1.01 Ah. ( about 35 to 70 watts). I can stay off mains power for several days with this setup which is what I intended to have when I rebuilt my(VV) Franklin as an up to date touring van.
