Hi all. I have removed all of the windows from the franklin and replaced the corners, rubbers and the plastic covers for the pushrods on the outside, when it rains water drips out of the bottom of the gearbox thingo on the inside of the window. I have applied silicone to the rivet and a bit at the top of the slot but still leaking. What am I doing wrong? ??. Kel

G'day Kel, Leaking windows can be a real pain to fix. Somewhere in the vast amount of information on this forum is a post by member kiwijim about how water finds its way into the window link boxes and runs down the winder arm into the winder box. I've searched and searched, but I'm blowed if I can find that post. However, it was kiwijim's information that made me do a lot of extra work when I changed all the link boxes on my Windsor van. I put a layer of butyl mastic sealant on the base of the link box before I pop-rivetted it to the window frame (the base of the plastic in the new link boxes was actually bowed slightly, so they never sat perfectly flat on the window in the first place - so much for quality designs, hey?!). I then also injected mastic into the holes of the link box before inserting the rivets, plus also into the holes in the rivet heads themselves where the mandrel pin snaps off, and made sure the rivet head was filled by pushing the mastic into the mandrel pin hole with a matchstick until the mastic overflowed. Then I lastly injected mastic into the rivet that held the winder box arm to the link box. It was a matter of making sure there was absolutely no possibility of water entering ANY position on the link box. The following pictures show what I did... We've now had the Windsor for two years, and it sits out in the open in our front yard and cops whatever rain we get in our area. I haven't had a leak in any of the windows through the winder box so far (touch wood). The other thread I found on the forum about leaking winder boxes is this one: Window winder leaking?? - SOLVED!Hopefully there's some ideas in all the above info to help you resolve your leaks. cheers, Al.
