After not being able to find parts (winder handles) for the hatch in the chensey We started to visit places that re/build or modify caravans motorhomes and slide ons and even camping stores and asked if they had a junk bin of bits we could look at. Third place we went to had a complete set of winders, gears and rods to suit the type of hatch that we have sitting on the bench, I was a bit keen to buy them and offered $50.00 for the complete set the owner said naaaah $40.00 will do . The moral i guess is to never give up looking for the older stuff its out there but just up to us to find it. Woohoo it just made my day cheers oggyfj Attachments:

Howdy oggyfj, It just shows you, the old gear is still around, Like you say, never give up, Being in the repair game for many years up till retirement a couple of years back, I have seen tons of old fittings chucked in the bin. sure wish I had a bigger shed now. A visit to an old established repair company is the best way to find old fittings, every-one I know, has a rear store-shed and these (if you can enter) is an Aladdin's cave of old parts. Another good sauce of old parts is to keep a look-out for an Auction of a Repair company closing down. I attended one recently where fittings of all description were going off by the box load, and at a song. One example was all the laminex sheeting in the place ( at least 1/2 ton ) === $ 50.00 the lot. Yes, the Bits and Bobs are out there, As you say, " never give up", keep looking and Ye shall find. ;D ;D ;D Cheers kiwijim
