hoping someone can help.... My trusty viscount has a whole lot of busted plastic snap caps in various external cladding locations that I would like to replace to bring back to original condition. As a lot of the old base pieces and caps have broken it allows the cladding to be loose around the rivet/fixing hole, so i'm going to have to replace the old rivet and caulk/waterproof at the same time. I've tried looking for the smaller snap caps in the hardware stores such as Bunnings, Mitre 10, etc but they only sell the medium and large sized brown and white plastic caps that are ok for use in joinery and inside the van with larger wood screws. Does anyone know a supplier or good place to find the small sized white caps that would suit aluminium rivet heads?? cheers Keelz

good question, haven't done a head count yet but i see lots of loose flappy lonely rivets down both sides....... i reckon would have to be about 30+ of them, could be higher when i go outside and actually count the casualties. where do you normally get yours from at work? I'd like to put em back on it gives me something to bed some sikaflex around the head of the rivet and seal the thing up neatly. cheers mate keelz

G'Day Keelz, I had a hunt through the records at work today trying to find the supplier for those plastic clip caps, not much luck unfortunately, it appears that we had a supply of them dating back to the mid 80's when they were supplied by Viscount of Victoria. The only people that use them today are Shop Fitters. maybe there are some listed in your local Yellow Pages ?? Sorry I can't be of more help. kiwijim ;D

I'll try my luck with some joinery contractors i know, i might strike it lucky. If they were supplied by Viscount in Victoria it was most likely that they came from Viscount plastics division who used to make the knock-in trims, mouldings etc specifically for the Viscount factory.... i think after the demise of Viscount they continued on as a separate entity called Viscount Plastics. I might enquire with them also. Cheers Keelz

Hi Keelz, this info might lead to nothing, but have a look at this website... www.prodec.com.au/ ...and click on Products on the left hand menu, and then scroll down and click on the Snap-Caps picture. Have a read of all the info there to see if they produce the size you require. Their pricing and quantities seem to be aimed at "trade" users, but they should be able to steer you to a retail outlet (or maybe let you buy a retail quantity). Hope this leads to something good. cheers, Al.

Thanks Ditzy
And MarkT
She must have had a few emails cause I left two as well ;D
This may become an ongoing issue as it is on V Vans site
The spammers seem to come in fits and starts
One minute your neck deep in ..... doodoo and the next it's all quite on the western front
I can't figure these knobs out
why the hell post on an unrelated site that just deletes and cause so much irritation?

Only way to fix it is to try to find a software upgrade for the site that will allow stopping guests from posting. I know it was discussed on the VV site, apparently the forum can only "lockout" guests, which is no good since then people would need to join just to have a look at the site. KEELZ - have you tried www.caravansplus.com.au - can buy lots of van goodies online there. Prices seem reasonable too. The other possibility is caraparts - sorry not sure where they are, I know my father got lots of stuff there in the late 80s and 90s when he was in the trade. Cheers, Gristy Cheers, gristy

Gristy - Yeah they don't stock em, not the small ones i needed. Anyhow I've found them down at Prodec in Parramatta ;D
Atog - Caravansplus is an independent retailer who sources a lot of the stuff they sell from Camec, they are based in the A.C.T. They do sell more than just whats in the Camec catalogues as well. I order items from them a lot, very very reliable service.
Cheers
Keelz
