Well guys, i have been away for a nice break....and as i said there is a caravan awaiting my pick up it is a 1976 Viscount....AWESOME, i am going back in a couple of weeks to pick it up it actually is in great comdition for age a fair bit of work to do to get it to my standard...i think it is a AMBASSADOR the number on chassis says A6444 so i thought it would be an Ambassador but on the bulk head at front and rear it says i think DURAVAN is hard to read because of age can anybody shed some light for me....i will post some pics soon as i am away working......thanks in advance:)

G'day rocketrod,
Sounds like the van you're picking up is a 1970 model. The Duralvan models finished up around 1971. It looks like the 1971 Viscounts got a chassis number ending in "A", but the 1970 models got a chassis number starting with "A". It'll be interesting to see if the stripes on the side of the van are the "lightning stripes" that were used in 1969/70.
cheers, Al.

Hi Al,
Wow thanks for that, sounds like I have got a classic & funny you say that cause it has got a very faded olive green lightning stripes on the side. Like I said the van is in exceptionally good condition except for a bit of exterior damage where someone has backed into a pole, which I will easily fix. The ceiling is in excellent condition, I will post some pics as soon as I get back up north next week. Make no mistake this van will be re-incarnated, I love these old vans. Will keep you posted.
Cheers Rocketrod/Chez

Hi Rod what a great job you have done is it hard to do the cladding. I had heard that if you use pink bats and you have a leak in the roof the pink bats hold the water, wear as the foam it just runs off but if you have re-cladded I don't think you have to worry about leaks as long as it is sealed well.
