Thanks I had a look at the thread. I was all set to use pink batts again. About 7 years ago I totally guttered back to the chassis and rebuilt and designed my Viscount Royal reno. This van was one of a kind. Brand new from the axles up. I used pink batts in the roof and walls. It was perfect for noise and climate. I have just ordered brand new log cabib cladding from Sydney waiting for it to arrive. Obviously i need to insulate the van and a guy said I wouldnt use pink batts because of the condensation. It kinda made sense, now I am doughting pink batts and looking at polystryrene. There dont seem to be enough knowledge on the batts. My other van was Rocket Rods Viscount Reno look it up you can see pucs of batt stage. Now im (confused). 2nd doughting

The one that seems to get a good mention is air-cell insulbreak 65. This is what I will most likely end up using as its flexible for curves (front and rear panels) and seems to be a good option next to high density polystyrene.

The white seems even better being a higher fire rating and if one is really chasing minimum weight up high, for those converting old into free camping with solar & water tanks, the option of using it as the ceiling liner as well. www.kingspaninsulation.com.au/Products/Kingspan-Air-Cell/AIR-CELL-Insulwhite/Overview.aspx One thing i will give to the thick esky foam in the Arrow is noise dampening. living fulltime and various record breaking downpours in NSW & QLd over the last 2 years, being able to still hear the tv or talk without that "tin shed noise" is something to think about. I pondered going all cavity and film, but know after checking out a similar setup in a mates shed with the hose drumming up rain noise, some foam of sorts makes a more expensive sounding unit.

This is the stuff i been looking at too. Bunnings sell these and i like the fact its flexible unlike polystyrene.

It really is effective. I was far from convinced... But it was very cheap. Here's the writeup i did on it www.shanescitshed.com/cx2500/air-con/citroen_cx_insulation.htmlI'm still really concerned about anyone rolling it out over 240volt wiring. Unplug the caravan and make sure any wiring is extremelly well insulated before you roll this stuff out. Remember the insulation scheme ...where quite a few people died rolling out foil insulation in roof cavities ( really .... how stupid are people ?? ). I'd run away screaming "never" if someone wanted me to roll out a conductor over high voltage A/C wiring seeya, Shane L.

When so many caravan restos get stripped down to bare poles no excuse to re build like original cheapo production line primitive ways. Another good reason to seaparate DC from AC is noise. This will be a thing down the track, for those fitting wireless and or blue tooth gagetery down the track.

Will have to take measurements then find out what it will cost would be ideal for the thin curved ends and walls. All my electrical will be though conduit even the 12v has its own conduit made up of plastic water pipe used for garden watering systems so conductive insulation isn't a problem. Thanks Shane for the info Bruce
