Loving this old thread.
Ours is the 1970 14ft 6 Franklin Regent, we pick up next week.
Lots of original features but much work to be done. Trying to think of a name for her... so many such as Betty and Betsy are already taken multiple times.
Named from listening to radio on way down the coast: Shirl.
Lots of work to be done, now need to source so much. Do most people use newer versions to replace or try and source original?

Looks lovely. Do post some pics when you have it in you custody.

I always find it interesting how caravans seem to be both genders as per personality of them usually.

Will try and set up photobucket account today for photos. The amount of work to be done is daunting but exciting.
Would not mind having an "I Dream of Jeannie" moment and blinking a few things done though.

A big Welcome to the Forum Madmother, That's a nice looking van you have there, A bit of advice before you start to spend Big Bucks on her, have a real close look at the underside first, by this I mean the chassis, underside of the drawbar and brake cables, as well as the brakes and bearings. If all of this proves to be in "good nick" then you are half way home already, Inside the van check for corner leaks in the back of cupboards, using your nose to smell for any rotten or damp wood, having done that and all is well, the next thing I would check would be the wiring, has the van got a circuit breaker fitted at the power inlet, ? if not, That's a must for your own protection, so my advice is, have one fitted straight away.
There's a few things to carry on with LOL, plenty of other idea's will be sure to come your way as things progress, have fun but don't expect all to be fixed in a couple of days, It took me 5 years to do up my last Classis and there was things still to be done when I sold it !!!
cheers K.J.

Thanks KJ. Took you advice and asked hubby about underside - all good bar a little surface rust. He is planning on doing all the bearings already. We know of the leaks, saw them before buying, need new seals around windows too.
Not sure on circuit breaker but if not will do.
And really appreciate the advice.
