I got a great buy and very happy last year when I became the 2nd owner of our van "Fanta" (orange and white). We wanted to keep it stock original and not disturb anything.
The more we use it with out 2 and 8 year old boys, the more we realise it has become delicate over the last 38 years. Wood veneer is coming off here and there, a little water staining on the ceiling from history and some swelling of chipboard pieces and a little timber rot on the bottom of some wall sheets.
So, I thought I'd get some ply laminated a very similar laminate to the original veneer, and give it a birthday. Ha Ha Ha.
Standard laminex onto 3mm ply, and a backing laminex so the sheet doesn't curl like a banana. $477 ea, (1220x2440mm). Only need 10 to do the van justice. New cupboard and drawer fronts on 12mm mdf with special laminex $1100, then the couple of 14mm gable ends and lounge end and a couple of small pieces at close to $1100.
So, I've decided to change the interior wood grain to something that I can buy pre laminated onto ply and get the same pattern in materials for doors and drawers and gable ends.
Any ideas or leads? I'm located on the Gold Coast.
I will soon get some photos in the appropriate section here.

G'day millard1978goldcoast, Your chances of finding a veneer pattern similar to the original are pretty much "none and buckley's". You'll have to look at the range available today and see if there's anything that you could live with. Most on-line caravan parts suppliers list veneered plywood in their items. Do a google search for "caravan plywood lining", or words like that, and you'll see plenty of results. Check to make sure the veneer is stuck on plywood, as opposed to thin MDF. Bunnings ditched the Gunnersens plywood products a few years ago, and now stock a MDF version instead. Wouldn't recommend mdf for caravans that could spring a leak when you least expect it. Cheers, Al.
