The best part was sooo many body cramped into the vans but that a story for enough time OOOOOHHHh The 70's ;D

The 5 seater Chrysler PV was mine back in the very early 80s.It was a factory built vehicle with a Charger floor pan and flat floor in the rear passenger section.Bench seat with 3 lap sash seat belts (Kanga) and tilt forward Charger bucket seats up front. The rear section (as in behind the back seat was carpeted.I honestly don't remember, but i think it was a 318 V8 with auto on the tree. A lot of debate went with the 25 rear seat PVs that Chrysler made,i do know that mine was used by Parramatta Hospital as a S.C.A.T vehicle and for getting to disasters in a hurry. I have only seen 2 of the 25 built, one was at a wrecking yard in Midland WA the other is the one above which i sold to a young bloke from Wentworthville in Sydney.I put Thrush side pipes on it,come to think of it,i m now sure it was the 318 V8 van. Never thought id see that van again Dave No where the rarest Aussie Val ive ever owned

Hey Olfarts I fell in love with this vehicle when I saw it on Ebay But as always cash was an issue Sadly it went very quickly...... as would be expected The owner said he was the second owner of this van The first had it from original and the seats were fitted by the dealer The seller had owned it about 18 months 265? Auto Does that sound about right? He was of the impression that the van was based on the stationwagon floor pan So you're saying that the 5 seaters where different again? Based on the Charger floorpan .... Yes? Cheers Atog

Gday Atog There is a large shopping centre down here which was build on land that was a great Drive In .We use to meet in the back row or what was known as Van Alley. I wonder how many people shopping at the centre were conceived at the Centre Looking forward to visiting my back shed in about 4weeks Cheers Bazz

Hi there Atog, Bazz, Old farts & KiwiJim Ahhhhhhhhh these pretty pikkies of Chryslers.........just brings tears of joy to my eyes. But funny thing, when I went to the drive ins, was a bit before the Drifter days, as in my other life, my panel van was a HD Holden........O'h those walls can tell many a story of the happenings at the drive in. Never did get to see the end of any movie..........A'h bring back the seventies, aye Bazz My first Muscle car was a VJ Charger, the sister car to the one we have now. Did have a look at the Drifter when we bought these back in '76, but being the ultimate past surfie, show off and self confessed admirer of the female art form...I figured the Charger would do the trick. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D, Did for a short time....but I met the bride, didn't I.....dough!!!!!!!! Bye Bye Charger But for the last 12 years my greatest love returned to my arms....my mighty VK Just keep on talking about Chryslers troops....even though they were once taken over by Mitsubishi in the early 80's and the CM was the last. But now what's old is new again....hurray!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D....but alas, the Chrysler name may be gone forever, along with GM and a host of others. Have to stay toooooned for that one Get well soon Bazz. Cheers & Naked Blondes vkgreenie theretroroamers.blogspot.com

Looks like i will have to stand corrected,my van was identical to that one.Even down to the side glass and trim.Well thats 3 accounted for. They definitely were based on the Charger floor pan. With conversations Ive had with guys that remember them coming down the line back in 1977. Mine was a 318 because i had Thrush side pips on my 350 HQ 4 door Monaro and had they collecting dust so when i bought the van i bolted them up to the tubes on the 318,bit cackly because of the tubes (extractors) but quiet all the same except when i stepped off the gas !! Did you know they made Drifter utes, vans and "Chargers"?? The top pic of the burnt orange van is missing the "DRIFTER" decal above the roof by the way ,,,,,,,,and its got the wrong rims and rear veiw mirrors !!!!! "MOPAR or no car." Dave My first Aussie horn car was a 3 year old Thar She Blue VG Pacer hard top........automatic.

The FIRST Hemi production car off the line VFX Safari wagon. No 1 Le Baron 318. No1 VG Ute. VG Pacer auto hard top. blah blah blah Dave (Now down to a V6 Crumbledoor) But an original Black S series is in the shed. And a 318 four speed Drifter ute

Hey Atog Chin up sunshine You live in an idealic part of OZ, well winter time anyway. ;D ;D ;D After our sabbatical in your neck of the woods Sept. / Oct last year, I could see the wheels starting to fall off the tourist industry, however traditionally going into summer is always the case anyway. Our young bloke is an "auto body re-finisher" in Cairns, classy name for a spray painter, and we continually ask him about the work situation for him....with a reply....."while people continue to smash cars and insurance companies keep on paying"....life's good. Sure top of the list for you is to keep on searching for that elusive panel van. You and my young bloke would make a good pair....he's waiting for me to go to the big Chrysler in the sky so he can get the Val....How rude!!!!! Maybe you can get together and go Chrysler hunting In the meantime...annoy the cheese and kisses (Mrs.)...get into those lawns that grow a foot a day, paint the house, suck on many Naked Blonde's, and just hang in there. D ;D ;D ;D ;D A bit of an after thought however.........If you already have got one, or worth investigating, obtaining a LR or HR license. Down Under Tours, were jumping up and down for drivers in my last tour of duty up your way. I was driving for Airport Connections / Coral Coaches, doing the airport runs between Cairns AP and PD, and I knew my time was only going to be short anyway, as we were negotiating to go back to management in the motel game.....so I didn't pursue the Down Under Tour option. Food for thought Atog....gives you something to chew on and worth investigating as the area is going into the tourist season again. Cheers & naked blonde's vkgreenie theretroroamers.blogspot.comPS: We are off on our next break from next Tooooosday for three weeks in the Mopar Muscle Car and the RetroLiner....keep an eye on our blog.
