If you click on the blue section of the index of threads marked SUBJECT it will line the threads up alphabetically. So then you won't need an index.
The same goes for the times viewed. Click on that column and it will give you the threads in most viewed, click it again and it will give you least viewed.
Click on the started by section and it will also line it up alphabetically
One of the lesser known functions of Proboards ;D ;D ;D
Cheers Atog

Hi Ern, Prattline were indeed made by Dick Pratt in Adelaide in the 70s and early 80s.They were built in 2 halves, the top half folding over the bottom half with a weather proof seal. It was fitted out like a normal caravan, except the overhead cupboards werent as large as a normal van and the robe was half height. There was a hydraulic pump on the A frame to lift the top half, you cou;ld also have an up market version that raised electricly. Great vans to tow,and well made. Only thing you have to watch is with misuse and neglect the 4 top corners tend to leak and let go,costs a lot to repair! Hydraulic system is motorbike fork oil and easy to repair (I believe) Hope this is of some help, hughdeani

Has anyone ever heard of a CVT Fairland all aluminium caravan around 1960 model ? the pics I saw show unpainted ali cladding on sides and looks like single sheet roof, front profile really juts out at the roof...a lot more sharply than say an Olympic Debonaire, looks to be around 14ft, split front window, front dining/bed & rear crossways divan/bed. They look interesting ( if not totally un-aerodynamic !!! ).

Luke, the website and forum is like a sister site to this one. It's actually called "Vintage Caravans proboards" but colloquially referred to as "vintage vanners". Much like here with lots of info and friendly knowledgeable people....enjoy ! Cheers - Steve.

Things I do while waiting for paint to dry.......
I think our Museum, is in a bit of a mess, I was looking again over on the VV's forum and it is in a bit better order. One thing that I want the Facebook page to do is drive people who have bought a caravan and are looking for information to this forum and hopefully to this topic
I know that years ago Al started off dozen's of posts across numbers of vans and manufacturers that he was hoping to post information too, the issue is only he can fill those blank posts, I think it would be better if all those blank posts be removed and members can add pictures of they CC's in as close to as possible original state with any details. Not when they have carried out a restore or recycle of the van. I have plenty of pic's of my "78" Millard Micro poptop and info on it but that's all I know as that's all I have owned and recycled. If anyone asks a question it should be deleted and there could be an opening topic like in the VV forum explaining terms and conditions.
Your thoughts ....
Cheers

G'day lockyer,
I put my hand up back in 2009 to kick off the museum part of this forum, after being involved in establishing the history section of the Vintage forum in 2007. I had great intentions of getting the Museum full of useful info, but time required for caravan restorations, personal issues, etc., meant there was very little time left to dedicate to putting all the info together. Hence the shambles that has developed over the last six years.
What I've noticed over the years on both this forum and the Vintage forum is that no matter how much detailed info there is, people will always come on the forum and ask a question as if that question has never been asked before, and they clearly haven't bothered to search the forum for an answer beforehand (or more likely they don't know how to search). I often wondered whether there was any point in having the info available if people couldn't be bothered looking for it.
I think it would be helpful for you to be a Moderator on this forum, as well as running the Facebook page (good on you! ), and you can modify/delete any of the posts on this forum to get things sorted properly.
cheers, Al.

Hey lockyer
Yep it has been getting a little out of hand must admit it has been rather annoying.
I have not had the oppurtunity to sit and go through it. Its not uncommon for people to post under the wrong headings, not sure how to stop that, actually people are people they will continue to do it.
As for the blank pages. I was aware Al had a plan and did a lot of work toward it. It was not my intention to delete the work he had done.
Al - based on your post above I assume it is not your intention to add any more to the museum thread.
If this is what you want to do that would be fine. I am very time poor. I had more time to do things when I was working. I am heading off again in 2 weeks and will be in places where I will have limited or no internet access.

Something that may also help is that the default search field is set to look say 2 years. I only recently saw a post about setting a heap of days to look back on, in advanced search, that starts to then yeild results. The average newbie or someone like me who generally just uses the default site search on a forum just sees no result atm.

I picked up that a lot of newies look for photo's of there van first to try and work out it's age/year of make. I think the museum needs all the records that are already there and photo's of classic caravans with any details known. Our members already have a large amount of that information but it is in there restore/recycle HOF thread.
bobt has been in contact and we are talking about things
Al your not getting off that easy - your like an old computer full of great information we just need to get it out of you...
The Facebook page is generating interest already, and this will start to increase and also bring new members to our forum.
Cheers L

G'day bobt,
Even if I wanted to, I can't...at least not under the "millard1399" name, because I no longer have access to that log-in name. When I sold that Millard, I re-registered on the forum as "ForumMod" but asked Mark Taylor/Admin not to delete the millard1399 account because of all the photos I'd posted over the previous four years. Then the same thing happened when I stopped being 'forummod' and re-registered as 'pisces51'. A member can only have access to one log-in name at any one time.
In a nutshell, it means that all those Museum threads I started but never completed will sit there incompleted till the cows come home. It's a shame we couldn't have certain posts on the forum available for every member to be able to edit, irrespective of who started the post off. Sort of a bit like Wikipedia. I wonder if that type of thing is possible on the Proboards system??
cheers, Al.
