Hello there, here is my new/old caravan Her name is Bertha and she is a 1975 Viscount Royal 26 ft tandem 2 door with shower. The chassis number is 8463A. I am going to use her as an onsite van next year after renovating her for the next 6 months. It was dark by the time I got home so I will have inside pics to share tomorrow She towed very well with my 1997 Jackaroo- not flash but does a good job!

G'day Trish, Struth, how many vans have you got??! This must be about the sixth van I can remember you getting hold of. Do you still have them all, or are you getting rid of one each time you get another? Your van is earlier than 1975 - maybe sometime during late 1971 or even perhaps early '72. I'm a person who hacks around the golf course for a bit of fun, and one of the larger clubs carried in a golf bag has been tagged with the "Big Bertha" name, and I think you might have bought the caravan equivalent of that golf club. What's the general condition of the van like? Bit hard to tell in the fading light of your photos. I can see the ultimate glamper gal van in the making here... cheers, Al.

Hey Al I have sold all my vans, I have currently a little 8 foot bondwood rescue, a 1950's English Fairholme rescue, a 70'a Empire Pop top mis resto into a coffee van and my Bettie- the 1950's Home Made bondwood. I call the first two rescues because I saved them from certain doom and they are just sitting till hubby wants to do them up of someone else wants them. I have 3 acres and they arent harming anyone being here but if I had left them they might be turned into chook sheds or go to the caravan races and I just could not have that!. I will take some photos today but for her age she is in pretty good nick, she has old water stains in the back bedroom and the front and rear windows have been taken out and replaced with aluminium, the front for the air con and the back I am not sure why? There are a few flyscreens missing and the original stove isnt there. I am very pleased and am so so so excited at the prospect of renovating her over the next few months Thanks for your reply, I hope things are good with you, its nearly the weekend, time to play with Bertha! YAY Chat soon, Trish.

Wow, looks pretty swanky!! A real Executive class of accommodation! I quite like the blue 'marble' laminex that's in your van. I've seen it in other Viscounts and it has always caught my eye for some reason. You've certainly got a very nice starting point there. Shame about the lights fittings missing bits, but that can be sorted out, hey? cheers, Al.

Yes the blue marble is nice but almost all the edging has come off unfortunately. I hooked up the electricity today and its all go, the air con and heater work fantastically! I am hoping to find the lights over the next few months but if not will have to find something else. I took all the old curtains out today, they are in good nic but not my colours so I will have some fun making new ones

Hi Trish,
I have the same blue laminate in my 1976 23' Viscount Supreme. Your van is similar to what I went thru, but it is worth it. I will keep checking to see what you do. May van is in the hall of fame area
Regards
Paul

I just luv the 2 doorers. I don’t know why but I guess it’s because they are so BIG - I like BIG in a Caravan - wish I had one!!
Call me old fashioned LOL LOL
Cool purchase
Cheers

This is probably the original colour of my van (stripes have been repainted a darker tone). I also have the marble blue laminate inside.
Its a big van! Look forward to the progress pics!
