Just for your info I just dismantled a 1970's franklin caravan and the windows were sealed with foam striping. It was like one sided tape and closed cell foam. It was leak free from those windows although the rest of the van was badly damaged due to water leaks and owner abuse and misuse. One window(the rear window) was resealed with silicone and it was a real monster to remove(some swearing involved) . I have sealed some of my windows with sikaflex (polyurethane sealant) and although I know it's there to stay it would be horrible if I ever had to remove them. I did seal the four seasons hatch with sikaflex and then removed it a couple of weeks ago to replace it with something else that does not leak all the time the hatch not the sealant) I had to run the blade knife all the way around to get it unsealed from the roof. More swearing involved but felt good to know that it was not leaking at that join. I worked at a multi national wind turbine manufacturer and they sealed their fibreglass outside panels with the same stuff and they say it's good for at least 25 years in the full on weather. I never saw a leak from a turbine and some days the weather was coming in sideways at 120 kmh so if their was ever a test for the sealant that was it for sure. It costs more to buy but it is great stuff and you can fit the window without the screws and it will never come out. Regards Paul
