The sheeting you see to the left of the blacked out windows is marine grade ply, as will be the back and other side wall. This is then painted with a weathproof paint, then it will be sealed to the shower base with a commercial grade sealant - pretty much the best stuff on the market and streets ahead of anything you get from the hardware store - it runs to nearly $30 a tube, so thankfully I get all my sealants at 'the right price' . In reality. The shower will get used a dozen times a year, and it's a low volume hand held shower head, so I'm not expecting any dramas aassociated with water damage.

It will be Ok, we lived in the motorhome for 2 years and only stopped in CP twice so we used the shower every day down south. In Qld we have an external shower. You will need the internal shower down in Tasmania or have to be a very brave man.

All done for the day. The back panel is an odd shape to say the least, so I've made a template out of scrap which I'll transfer to the new sheet tomorrow.

Looking good, better stop before the happy hour side effects taking over. Where is the original Franklin clock? Was it missing when you got it?

No original clock no. If you know where a spare one is, I'm all ears.

Ok, template was removed this arvo and transferred onto the new bit of ply. All my previous attempts at fitting odd bits of sheeting have always required some tweaking to get them just right, but I must be getting better as this one fitted perfectly first time - it was a bit of a bugger actually, because it was bloody hard to get back out so I could glue it up. Anyway, job done, 2 coats of paint and all the screw holes filled ready for a final coat tomorrow. The grey won't be seen - that's a paintable silastic that I've used to cover the screws and to fill the corners in before final painting, then sealing with proper bathroom silicone around all the edges to make it properly water tight. I have a question about the shower base - any ideas of how I can stick this down so it doesn't flex underfoot, but in such a way that it could be removed if needed later on without destroying it? I was going to put some lines of PU and sit it on that, but that's a very permanent solution...

snoops - How about placing Contact plastic on the bottom or just strips of contact on the bottom of the shower base then glue the tray down the you only have to peel the tray off of the stuck down contact plastic.
PS - nice job fitting the panel

Ok, and now almost finished. Fully functional, just needs a last coat of paint and the sealant doing. Also found out it may be a smart idea to put a second drain in the base - there is a spot for it. Haven't glued the base down yet, So I may wait until I've done that before finalising that. Shower curtain and rail all up - it's got exactly the look that I want. Still have to put the return in next to the sink, and install some waterproof trim around the window when I pull that out to reseal it, but it's usable for the upcoming trip. I never seem to be able to fully complete each job before the next trip. I think that's just due to procrastinating until the last minute all the time... So, if you have an Arrow and don't have the kids tagging along any more, rip the bunks out and stick a shower in - there is plenty of room.

Nice, can you drop the bar of soap without the danger of finish with the mixer handle in your rear? That would be an interesting event

Yes, there is plenty of room to move around in there - even for someone as large as me. No chance of the flick mixer ending up somewhere it shouldn't. With the front wall curving out from the base, it's surprisingly roomy.

An extra drain is handy if the vans not level.
I've got a cot in the front of my arrow for our 15 week old daughter.

And for a bit of an update about the van, the shower was great and there is plenty of room on it. The HWS is a bit of a pregnant dog to get set properly, I found the temps changed day to day so adjustment was needed each time we used the shower, but I'm getting my head around that, and for what it cost, I can live with it. It did a power of work over the last few days as it supplied hot water for others to shower with, and did really well all in all. A quick shower uses around 3 litres, and a full shower, and washing your hair (well, my hair) takes around 7 to 8 litres, so I'm pretty happy with that. We topped up the shower tank (it's just a 20 litre drum at the front of the van) from the local mineral spring a couple of times so we were showering in mineral water the last couple of days - did I say I like Glamping?

Snoops, I havent been on the forum for a while, and it is inspiring to see the work you have done. Great job with the shower. Just adds that comfort edge to camping. I hired a jayco expanda for the Melbourne cup long weekend and we enjoyed the fact it had a shower and toilet. Kids were thrown in for a quick clean afew times. Made life easy instead of taking them to the shower block. I will say, that there is alot of storage in new vans, but not consolidated. I still prefer, and so does the family, the layout and storage in the older van. I think your van would make many with the latest mega dollar vans, jealous!! Happy flaunting!!

Yeah, I'll be pushing quite hard now to finish the interior off so I can get stuck into the panel and paint side of things. It is starting to bug me a bit that it is getting pretty nice inside but still looks like an old dunger from the outside. Once the shower cubicle is finished, it's just a few shelves in the front cupboard, then painting mainly. The bed base will be replaced at some stage, as will the couch, but they are longer term plans.
Speaking of the bed base - does anyone with an Arrow have some pics of how the original main bed was? Mine was modified many years ago (quite badly) and it needs work. SWMBO wants something that is easier for her to get into (she sleeps on the back window side) but I doubt there is a way to keep her happy here...

As for the bed, not unless you go for something like two single bunks, like my old man has.

While we were camping. SWMBO spent a day in Daylesford with some of our friends and in the second hand shop, found this little beauty for $30. Enamel is in mint condition, it has a heavy base and boils water very fast. A lovely addition to the van.
