Congratulations on getting over the rego hurdle, Bea! There'll be nothing stopping you now!! ;D If they are saying your van is a 1966 model, then the chassis number would definitely be A1245 and would be from the first time when they were using this series of numbers. It also means your van has been totally repainted at some stage, and would have originally been silver aluminium cladding with a set of painted stripes on the sides. Click here to see the thread on this forum about Viscount Ambassadors. Scroll down the list of photos I posted in that thread, until you get to the 1966 Ambassador side strip pattern. The Viscount pattern for 1966 was similar but slightly different to the Ambassador model. This van is from the Vintage forum and is a 1965 Viscount with chassis number A854, about 400 numbers before yours: Anyway, enough chit-chat about what your van would have looked like. Time for you to get out on the road and see what this caravanning is all about!! cheers, Al.

Al, I think the van has been totally repainted at some stage. We had a really gusty few days a couple of weeks back and one of the windows came loose and broke from the slamming. While I was taping some bubble wrap over the broken window, my fingers got really white from the paint coming off with just minimal contact. Might be a resto job later on. I just real used I have another issue to sort out.....power to the van!!! At home I have not wired her up apart from the quick test but we have a 15amp outlet for my studio van so that's not the issue. What will I need in terms of leads for powering my van when we are 'staying over' at a normal household? Will I really need something like the 'ampfibian' ? One of my first runs will be out at a friend's place for a night out....sort of glorified camping and they won't have a 15amp socket. Tia Bea

G'day Bea, As far as I know, the Amp-fibian is the only approved appliance for being able to connect a 15 Amp caravan to a 10 Amp household power system. Have a read of this thread from the Vintage forum recently. Note my post in Reply #18 about the two sellers now listing cheaper versions of these appliances on ebay (I'm "Franklin1" on the Vintage forum ). I still have concerns about these ebay items being approved for use in Australia. And I certainly have concerns about this ebay seller claiming the one he's listed is an Amp-fibian appliance. The cheapest genuine Amp-Fibian price I'm aware of is $215 posted, from an ebay seller. See all the listings herecheers, Al.
