Hi newbie here, we just purchased an 11ft 1986 Windsor Pop Top to use for short trips, I think we got a bargain as its in perfect condition, new double mattress on the island bed, only fault is a broken lamp shade on one of the light fittings. All 12 volt lights have been changed to fleuro's.
There is an almost new annexe with it but I doubt we will be able to use it due to health problems so am hoping to find a roll out one as I dont think either of us would have the strength to pull the ropes to put ours up
Can put pics up later if anyone is interested
Will be looking around the forum for any helpful advice.

I just realised my caravan is too new for this forum so about to delete my membership. We won't hold that against you. Please stay. Nothing much has changed in van construction over the years, so a bit of a 'classic' lives on in every van.

Hey Ellie While originally Classic Caravans was set up as a site for those that had 70's caravans it isn't discriminatory regarding age. We welcome all who are interested in restoring older vans regardless of age. Newer vans than 1970's need love and attention too. So feel free to reapply for membership. You will be welcomed as always. Tell us of what you have done and what you are doing regarding caravanning. We are all ears..... photos are always appreciated. ;D ;D ;D ;D Cheers Atog

Hi and Welcome Robn64, Have a look through the hall of fame. There are a couple early 70's Franklins threads that may give you an idea. Ye Old Classic Museum has a few short snippets on Franklin. Start your own thread there also, with a bit of info and a few photos of the van and how it may evolve.

Hello, and thankyou for advice already gleaned prior to registering.
We (wife, 2 kids and myself) have had a 19?? suncamper camper for about 20 years and have just graduated to a "proper" van with the purchase of a 1976 Franklin Arrow. The Franklin needs a bit of work, but with a bit of time and spare cash we hope to have it on the road by this christmas (probably not finished, but usable).
As mentioned above I have already got some useful info from the forum in relation to sealing of windows and rubber replacement, but I am sure I will have other queries in the future.

G'day planner, and welcome to the forum! ;D That's exactly what we need more of around here... a good planner, so you get the job, ok? Can you tell me what the chassis number is on your van, please? It's welded on top of the doorside arm of the drawbar, just near the jockey wheel clamp. It should be a letter followed by some numbers, but it could be another version depending on what year your van actually is. cheers, Al.

Thanks for the welcome Al.
I will get back to you next week with the chassis number, I'm at work now and won't be near desk over the weekend. The 1976 year was based on your info on the vintagecaravan forum (I was actually looking for manufacture date when I found these forums).

Hello all. Just a quick introductiuon. I have an old 19 feet Dual axel Vicount probably about 74. Will post some pictures latter. The outside apart from being filthy from being stored is in fairly reasonable condition. Interior however is in a terrible mess with the ply veneer peeling off the cupboards and the interior lining having had its patern worn off in a number of places but feel I can make this a bit of a project by replacing all internals. Thinking of doucmenting the rebuild so is it considered good maners to do that here or should I look elsewhere.I will probably be asking for advice along the way like supliers mainly. To start I have 2 questions; I have started removing the external cladding and have found it used to be fairly well insulated but the foam (poly styrene) has pretty well deteriorated down to dust in some areas. What is recomended to replace this with. I see Camec sell the polystyrene sheets but what is recommended? One concern I have is the flyscreens on the windout windows seem to use a welded construction with the flyscreen being welded into rubber which is now very hard. What can I do about that are they still available somewhere or are they build to order.
Cheers All Mal

G'day deb & pete, and welcome to the forum! ;D
And yep, posting photos can be a bit tricky until you get the hang of it, but it's worthwhile persevering. Once you get it to work the first time, it's all smooth sailing from then on. ;D
cheers, Al.

There is a photobucket app. I haven't done it for a while but I think that's all you need.

Hi all, I'm Dave from NQ .(duoh) ...lol Don't know if I've done an intro before. I used to frequent VV as I had a 65 traveleze Falcon and a 66 VC Valiant tow car. We replaced the Van with a late 60's early '70s Toppagee pop top. The VC has gone to a new home as We now have a V8 s-series val ,(I still have to add a tow bar to it) Hope to be a bit more active than I was (I used to lurk a lot) cheers..

G'day davenq, and welcome aboard. ;D
I remember your Travel-Eze van on the Vintage forum, and the guessing-game we played to determine what the word underneath the Travel-Eze sticker said (which was ultimately the word Falcon).
So now you have a Topagee poptop? Can't say I remember seeing one of their poptops - only the campers. Got any photos??
cheers, Al.
