thanks droonies. the windows were rubbed down and given a coat of etch primer and then a coat of white epoxy enamel. They were cheap white knight products from Bunnings, nothing special but look good I think. lol Gav, don't remind him! regards Jean

That's a great floor. Is it ply then insulation then ply?
What sort of insulation have you used there?
Looking great guys.

G'day Alex and Jean, Great to hear you guys are back on track! These restorations can be all-consuming at times, so it's good to have a break from them from time to time. ;D I used the Air-cell insulation in the Millard poptop. I remember one day here it was about 37 o outside, and inside the van was 5 o cooler. I have to say I was a bit disappointed in the relatively small effect it had on reducing the temp, but it is only rated at 1.9R-value, so I shouldn't have expected too much, I guess. It will be interesting to know how the foam insulation in the walls goes, in comparison to the air-cell stuff. Onward and upward towards your finishing date, ay?!! ;D ;D cheers, Al.

hi Bricktop, the flooring is diabond, then air-cell insulation, then ply. thanks Al, great to be back working on it, went out yesterday and the Viscount was a good 8 deg cooler inside than out so hopefully all that insulation will be worth it.
regards Jean

wow, can't believe we haven't posted on here since January!
So much has happened - we have sold our house and bought a nice block of land in Nannup in south west WA.
So what does this mean for the caravan I hear you ask! Well, it is now finished, or should I say liveable, the bed is all fitted with storage underneath of course, a kitchen unit is fitted with sink and space for a cooktop, to be fitted later. We have put in a small fridge and freezer, as we will be living in it for quiet a while on our block, and also a workbench/desk area for Alex to draw up plans for our new house!
We have put in two chairs from our house as temporary comfy seating and lino for the floor. We have not done anything with the internal walls as yet as we don't really know what we want.
I haven't had a chance to take any photos yet but as soon as I do I will get them posted.

G'day Jean & Alex, I was wondering what happened to you guys, but I can see you've been busy with house stuff. It sounds like you are about to rough it in true caravanning style. I did notice though, in your list of things in the van, that there was no porta potty mentioned, so I presume you are going the "shovel method"? Now THAT'S true dedication to Classic caravanning. Hope everything goes smoothly with the new house. If Alex's efforts on the van are anything to go by, it will be a beauty! ;D cheers, Al.

Hi Guys, WOW!! I'm totally envious of the job you've done here. I stumbled upon this thread today while looking for information on either extending or replacing a rusted out drawbar. That however isn't the reason I'm contacting you. I did read amongst the thread, Jean saying you made your own hatch for the van. Did you happen to make a photographic log of the making of said hatch?? I'm renovating a 13' 1971 Viscount Ambassador. It doesn't have any hatch to speak of at the moment, just a hole, 915mm x 580mm Would it be too much to ask of you to send a couple of pics. Thanks in advance and I hope the new house is starting to come along by now. Kind Regards Dave

hi guys and gals , im in perth and i have just picked up a 15ft 70s millard of which im replacing the roof on, its a pop top by the way,not sure if i have bitten off more than i can chew im going to have a go anyway im a mechanic but i also can do most things jack of all trade as they say, the aluminium cladding has some dents in it so i have been looking for ages to find some one who can roll some new sheets for me,so ive seen some of the sugestions on here and will try them, the camec sheets are too pricy for me plus the are only 230 odd in width, the orriginal sheets on the van are two piece so im hoping to keep it the same anyway have fun every one
