Thanks Steve and Julie is that taken from the Macadamia Castle?? Heres one with a twist; its taken in the 50s or 60s so it won't look exactly the same now The feature is still there though! Cheers Doug.

Yep you got it Dolphin! Over to you! That pic is taken from a slide that my late father took - in the late 50s early 60s ... I have been going through them and trying to sort out places and dates, a fair percentage of which I wasn't even born when taken! Been a challenge but very interesting too.

I'm in the process of going through thousands of prints, slides and negatives my father took too. An interesting process. Silvan Reservoir is a lovely place. Used to take the kids there when they were young. I'd all but forgotten about it until I saw your photo. OK - what are these structures and where are they? A hint...those travelling between Melbourne and Adelaide may have passed this location if they prefer backroads to the main highways (don't we all?)...

Not wind turbine bases.
Another clue...the structures date from wartime.

Well they are not really in a town, but the area is Wolseley, just a few clicks from Border town. Why on earth they ever built them there has me buggered, seeing no war has ever come any where near SA seeing its such a lovely little state Dave

Got it! It's no more than 200 metres from the western edge of Wolseley, which is most definitely a town. Probably bigger than the one I live in!
Yes, seems a funny place to have a fuel depot, doesn't it. They must have had their reasons I guess. Certainly the rail link (effectively both from Vic and from SA) was one of them.
Over to you!

As you come over the bridge (where all the ducks cross the road) turn left to where the ceramic ute is,or follow the road to the right and look right.
Its on the river bank opposite IGA in a little very tidy parking/rest bay with table and seats,we had lunch there.

Yep, close enough. It's Macquarie Pass (one to avoid with a caravan!) between Robertson and Shellharbour.
Have a wonderful Xmas, all! See you in the New Year.
