Howdy there Dave not far off ,the salmon would have been held at salmon ponds at Henty very interesting place would recommend to anyone visiting Tassie to visit only about 30 mins out of Hobart .The salmon were put somewhere they could not swim away, this lead to their demise as they need to go up stream to lay their eggs this should give good idea as to where this location is regards peterg

:DHi there kiwijim thought you were lost to us by the euphoria of the EAGLES win,now unfortunately you are incorrect so i will give one last hint that should give it to some astute traveler, the area in question is accessed by a highway through the central highlands of tassie with the same name regards peterg

Well, this has certainly got ME beat! 1. The Tamar River is "not far off" 2. Plenty is the place where the salmon were held. 3. Swan Bay is the name of one bay on the lake. 4. The area has the same name as the highway up through the Central Highlands. Sheesh!... I'll guess...ummm...Lake Gordon?? (...but that's a 3-day drive from the Tamar river, and a 2-day drive from Plenty, so I think I'm going totally in the wrong direction... )

Hi Al you are1/2 right it is a lake but not GORDON maybe nobody knows because it is accessed by tassies least traveled h/way used mainly in summer because of snow in winter but really should be seen by more r/vers and vanners as locals all own shacks and would allow most people who asked to stay next to their shacks ,i know as my family have owned such properties for years- this particular lake was the largest f/water lake in Australia until the flooding of Pedder. regards peterg ;D
