TonyH Hi.
I lost one of my hatches last year. I used the other hatch to make a mould and then made one out of fobreglass.
Where are you located and what size is the hatch opening?

Hi Ted, Ipswich near Brisbane. Size is approx 900mm x 600mm.
I was thinking of getting a mate to fold me one out of 2mm Aliminium. Thoughts?
Can I still buy the wind up part as this is what broke to allow it to take off?
Thanks, tonyh 0431 399 266

If your hatch looked like this: you will have to make one, the modern replacements are much smaller.

Hi,
Does anyone know if the hatch winder parts are still available?
My main plastic body is broken and I can fabricate it out of steel or alloy but original would be nice.
Thanks, TonyH

Thanks, TonyH Try a search in ebay/ gumtree, there was a seller with Viscount parts this week, seems like they had most things. Also place an ad on our sister forum Vintage Vans.

When I made my hatch I made it 20mm wider at the top & 60mm wider at the bottom of the sides & ends. I made a timber mould. Waxed it & 3 layers of fibreglass. This all worked great. Ted

Hi Ted, Thanks for the info of the taper from top to bottom but how much did it overlap the opening (longer and wider) It appears from my old photos it overlapped about 75mm or more Cheers, TonyH

Tony hi. My van has two hatches & i only lost one of them so i made the gaps similar.
I think that your photo overlap off 75mm would be the 60mm i gave mine at the bottom with the 20mm at the top.
