Hi all, new here just wanted to say hi and ask about my van....
Recently bought a 1989 Advance Poptop and have been very busy renovating and repairing it.
I know it is not a classic but it had a past life with poor maintenance and as such it needs a lot of TLC. It was the great cover up... rotten mouldy ply with newer ply and carpet glued over the top.
I did a search on here and other forums but have found nothing much on “Advance caravans”
It appears that there are not many advance caravans around and I know little about them, other than being told they were built by some viscount workers in Sydney after viscount closed down?
So I would be interested to know if any members that have an Advance van or know much about them.
It seems like it is well built van, with aluminium frame and apart from a few leaks that have never been fixed correctly (silicon everywhere!) should be good.
I have spent weeks repairing /replacing timber and rebuilding cupboards. Also I have upgraded the electrics rewiring the 12volt and 240 systems with new DP power points, inlet, earth leakage safety switch and Anderson plug.
I am renovating it to suit my taste and needs and I am not keeping it original at all.
I will post up some photos soon
