I went looking for a cheap camper trailer to take my young family camping in and ended up with this!!! 1975 Baravan 16'6" Empress. This caravan was bought by my father new 1n 1975 to send a year taking us around Australia in 1975, it was used for the next 10-15 years on regular family holidays but as we got older family holidays changed and the van has sat in my Fathers back yard for the last 20 years. I now have a young family and having grown up camping take my family camping but the camping gear have outgrown the family car an has got to the point where we need a trailer to take all of the gear. If you are towing a trailer might as well tow a van, so after a look around at what was available the decision was made to give the Baravan a second family to look after!! The caravan is 100%original and untouched, even the original curtains, but as it has sat in the back yard for so long it is showing its age. I have restored a couple of 60's & 70's Italian cars and spent 10 years competing in one so I am fairly confident, with help from other forum members i can bring her back to its former glory. Thought this would be of interest as well. 1974 Brochure Original Order Interesting there was also a new Falcon wagon bought at the time for $1900 I will have to do a full strip as the walls are water stained badly and the original chip board floor, while not soft, has started to come apart from underneath. More photos to come.

Struth, david128...how did I miss your post?? You must have snuck in in the middle of the night and posted your info. Now I'm embarrassed to say I never noticed it was there. So, sincere apologies for not responding earlier, and a belated welcome to you for joining the forum! ;D You are one of a small group of people who are able to get hold of an original van owned by a member of their family. More often than not, those vans have been well looked after over the years, and are still in very, very good condition. Your Baravan is no exception, so you are luckily off to a very good start with your van. To have all the paperwork from the time of sale is like finding the Holy Grail. You'll have to make sure you guard that paperwork with your life. Many of us would give our eye teeth to know the history of our vans. Keep us posted on what you end up doing to the van. I can't recall seeing a Baravan on this forum before, so it'll be interesting to see more of the van as the 'tidy up' progresses. cheers, Al.
