I've been looking at caravan crash reports on the internet lately. Seems there are any number of unfortunate incidents involving caravans, and not necessarily related to some fool behind. Many of the reports indicate that the caravan was seen to start swaying just before the crash. These are pictures from just a few of the news items within Australia over the last 12 months. Four of the five only involved the towcar/caravan, and no other vehicle directly... You can google caravan accident and come up with heaps of reports of caravan crashes around Australia. Probably the unluckiest story is this one about a couple who had just taken delivery of their brand new $86,000 van from the dealer. Thirty minutes later, the van was totalled when it jackknifed as they were travelling along the Gold Coast M1. The towcar was flipped over onto its roof, and the van tipped over on its side, sliding along the bitumen... Gotta be careful when towing. cheers, Al.

Gday Al I think that I could safely say that excessive speed and incorrect loading would be responsible for 90% of caravan accidents (the people that wrote off the new van in 30 minutes was probably empty ...probably speed and a side wind) If I had $1 for every old digger that passed me doing 110kmh with a 20+ foot van fishtailing all over the road I could probably buy another classic van My advice SLOW DOWN FOOLS ;D Off my box... back to diggin ;D ;D Cheers Andy

I think the shear size and weight of the modern vans coupled with the ever increasing push for weight reduction and strength of new vehicles has a great deal to do with these accidents as well. How often do you see one of these new 3 tonne "mobile palaces" being slowly wobbled up the highway by some brand new SSSAANNYYYGGWONG MOTORS "4WD", with its arse dragging on the ground at 80 kph. There is a massive amount of weight controlling that new "4WD"...........not the other way around as many of these owners think! One wrong move and they become nothing more than a passenger on a VERY scary ride!

Dipshits and dopes, no manner their ages and respective abilities to tow something, the truck plant looks like a typical idiot that overtook a truck only to turn 1000 meters down the tack and get a side plant for their stupity wiping the caravan off in the process and be their own stupid actions
I'd have a big warning on my trailers pass me when I am a road train from 100 kph I take 4 km to stop if you think of passing me only turn within 1000 meter be prepared for carnage I'm not liable for your stupidity of actions you take if I hit you are dead meat!!! So choose wisely in over taking and turning in front of me as you may loose your life as I have a cam onboard to show your reckless actions you'll be liable for any and all damage you cause when I hit you.....
something that is 3 ton in towing weight should be a 6wd or a a bare min of a dog on it and by the sounds of it if it is dual or triaxle min of 2 wheels per axle per side, though I'd be asking why it wasn't a 5 th wheel configuration if it its swaying on 4 wheels try increasing to 8 for stability.
Personally if you are dragging the fuel tank and exhaust I wouldn't leave the caravan dealer unless connected to a a Unimog truck
