I call this putting the roof back on the Cabana Convertable. It originally started in general, but i thought i should continue in its own thread: Last weeks episode: There was a good reason for the tarp when I bought it..... It goes like this, the previous owner was cruising down the Calder freeway, felt the "Tail wagging the Dog" looked in mirror to see the roof fly twenty feet up in the air and then land back down in middle of the lane in the freeway. Fortunately no-one following him. Him and passenger stop, run back, pickup roof, then carry back and replace on cabana (back-to-front I might add). Then tarp over for six months pondering repair, before selling to me. next before photo: Obviously, tarp not at all very watertight. So I built new roof frame and then covered in white colourbond steel ($120, compared to $400 for proper caravan aluminium): Then had a mate sew up new roof canvas and I installed it (mongrel of a job - took hours). And I repainted the a frame and painted on a nice blue stripe. Also scrubbed the interior, made up new mattress cover (and replaced one mattress), replaced water affected timber and fittes some carpet: Then, used it once, purchased a 1963 Franklin and sold the Cabana. gristy

Hooligan I have never seen such a mess of a roof. The resto job was excellent One question though was the roof metal or fibreglass..... I seem to recall the one I had was a fibreglass roof. That was 25 years ago so my memory may be wrong.. Atog

hi Wahroonga, I priced the ally with a local van repairer, bought all the aluminium j moulding annex track etc from them - and their prices are really good, but that cladding is too dear, until I got the colourbond, I even considered buying a cheap van to wreck for the cladding I used 2 tubes of sealant on the roof, and in heavy ran - not a drop of water got through. Atog, the roof was glass, the frame was rotten, thats why she let go and flew off, making mess of canvas also. Cheers, Gristy
