Welcome to the forum John Looks like you definitely got the better end of that deal As my ol man use to say "A fair exchange is no robbery" You seem to have a slighly more fair exchange than he did ;D ;D You can use it straight up .... no need to do much at all by the looks Plus no more setting up problems if it's wet Well done Oh ..... and did I mention that the fibreglass ends and roof look great Cheers Atog

Hi Atog,
Thank you for the welcome, There wasn't much to do to get it ready for travelling,I just replaced a zip,and reattached the canvas in one corner.
The canvas if fine with no tears,or even repairs anywhere.
You're right about setting up in the wet,its a pain with the Oztrail.
The big drawback with the tent style campers is you cant leave them fully set up with all your gear, you have to load nearly all your gear, into the car before you leave, and unload it all when you get home, this includes the fridge. Thats fine if you're young and fit,but no fun at all, when you're 60 and disabled a bit.
Cheers. John

Hi John, I spent a bit of time today catching up on the ebay caravan listings, looking for photos and information for our new History section. There would have been at least six occasions where vans were listed with the wrong date of manufacture. Similar to what we talked about above, dates of 1982, 1988, etc were given to vans actually from the 1970s. The most optimistic example I came across was a Viscount listed as "...not sure of the date but circa 1990" which in fact was a 1975 model. I couldn't help myself and had to send them a message to enlighten them. There were other examples of "mismatching" throughout the listings, for example a van being advertised as a Viscount, when the photos clearly showed the Millard stickers on the front and rear; and a "Viscount Wayfarer", with genuine Wayfarer badges, which are two totally separate brands. So it's an absolute lottery out there at times, and no wonder there's so much confusion about.
cheers, Al.

Nasa62 wroteHi John, What an awesome little number you got there! I remember some years ago having a similar design unit and I loved it. All we had to do was hook er up an away you go. One thing I had to do to it was replace the floor. Thinking this would be a simple task, one Sunday I set about it. Little did I know that I had to remove all the inernal cupboards, stove, everything Then I had to lift the outside off the frame, then I could access the floor. So I thought, "Well, if it took all that effort I may as well do it properly" So I went ahead and cleaned up the frame, fitted marine ply flooring and put her all back together. The last thing left was the canvas. For a temporary measure I used tp smear silicon where the water would drip in(I'm a roof plumber) and you know what, it worked great Unfortunately I didnt get to replace it coz e sold it and went up North- but my, did we have some fun in that camper And I'm sure you will enjoy the lightweight towing, easy setup of your unit, it looks fantastic Cheers, Nick

Hi Al,and Nick
Al, Like you I also check out the Vans,Even though I no longer need one. I love looking through the Listings. Ebay is a great place, but can be a trap for the unwary, and it pays to do what you do,and do your homework. As I said in an earlier post, sometimes the seller Innocently misrepresents the Van,simply because they Believe, the age,etc to be correct.
Nick,
Geez Mate, your keen replacing the complete floor in your Van,and good on you for getting it done. A mate of mine who is a carpenter replaced one for his cousin,a cople of years ago, it was that difficult,he swore he would never do another one.
We are looking forward to the warmer weather,so we can check it out. It is great to tow,and so easy to set up,I will remember your tip if we get any leaks, hopefully wont need any silicone, but will carry a tube...Just in case.
We were extremely lucky we not only got the full Annex, which looks brand new with it,but a proffessionaly made Awning as well,so we can have Annex on one side,Awning on the other,as each side of the van has the tubing to fit them to.
Cheers to you both. John
